The Story of Daksha Yaga

According to Hindu mythology:

• King Daksha Prajapathi, father of Goddess Sati, organized a grand yajna (sacred ritual) but deliberately insulted Lord Shiva by not inviting him.
• Hurt by the insult to her husband, Goddess Sati sacrificed herself in the yajna fire.
• Enraged by this tragedy, Lord Shiva performed the destructive Rudra Tandava and sent Veerabhadra to destroy the yajna.
• It is believed that this sacred event took place at Kottiyoor.
